We just want to take a quick moment to pat ourselves on the back. The SharePoint Records Management blog just passed its first birthday. That means for over a hundredth of a century we have provided a ridiculous amount of information about an extremely narrow subject to a very limited number of people. We couldn’t have done it without you, our loyal readers. We’d like to personally thank you both.

Congratulations – here’s to another significant percentage of a century providing excessive amounts of narrowly-tailored information to your targeted audience!

Congradulations on your milestone. It takes alot of dedication to deliver a good and current information source like you have.
One thing I’d like to mention since you closely following the SP 2010 release:
I have not seen any mention in your blog about records hold functionality in SP (maybe I overlooked it), Anyway, have you heard anything on this topic pertaining to the 2010 release? This is a really weak area in SharePoint RM. I know the record center has a basic hold functioionality, but what about all of the active records out in the current SharePoint sites? If they don’t put it in 2010, I guess we will just have to build our own hold feature.
Thanks

Hi, Curtis. You’re right, I really haven’t mentioned much about holds functionality. Mostly just an oversight, but also may be due to the fact that I tend to agree with you – the holds feature in MOSS 07 is a good start, but lacks some important functionality.
I’m told that SharePoint 2010 will have enhanced e-discovery features. Presumabley, this includes better holds features. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
Thanks for the comment.

How will SharePoint address the increased volume of content that will be required for Records retention
